What is a ‘Wiki’?
A ‘wiki’ is a website that allows the easy creation and editing of any number of interlinked web pages. Wikipedia is an example of a wiki, and our wiki uses the same structure and layout as Wikipedia. On Wikipedia, anyone who visits the website is able to edit the content and make a contribution. It is a great way of sharing ‘collective knowledge’ about a particular subject. Anyone can make a change, and it is easy to see who made the change and when.
About Our Wiki
Our wiki is now open to the public for viewing. Anyone can visit the wiki and learn about ‘How to Build an Orchestra’. At the moment, our wiki is a work in progress, but new content is being added all the time. There is already a lot of detailed information about how to build particular instruments, thanks to the work of volunteer technical writer, Steve Owens.
If you have experience building musical instruments or other relevant experience, we’d love to hear from you. To make a contribution to the wiki, you need to login first. If you don’t have a username and password (or have forgotten your password), contact support@reclaimersonline.com.
All members of The Reclaimers are encouraged to share their knowledge about building instruments, or musical experience, by editing a page on the wiki. The aim of the wiki is to provide a resource for other community groups who want to setup their own community orchestra.
So the wiki is instructional in nature – it’s about teaching others how they too can build their own orchestra. We want to provide as much information and explanations as possible, to make it easy for other community groups to follow. And we’ll need everyone’s help to create a comprehensive resource.
